HEALTH MINISTRY

We share Christ's ministry of healing and wholeness (body-mind-spirit) by serving others through health education, preventive screenings,

and a caring presence.

FPC Health Ministry is a new ministry that serves to provide individuals and families with resources to promote health and wellness.

Some examples of health ministry activities include:

  • Providing blood pressure checks.
  • Offering flu vaccines.
  • Helping people find health resources.
  • Promoting healthy eating.

Congregational cookbook

The First Presbyterian Church Health Ministry Team is collecting recipes within our church family to promote healthy eating. A Healthy Eating Cookbook is our goal!

With the information provided below on What is a Healthy Recipe in mind, we would love for you to share a recipe with our church family. It can be an entree, salad, side dish, appetizer, or dessert.

  1. Download and fill out the recipe form.
  2. Return the completed form to our Health Ministry box outside the main office.
  3. Feel free to provide a photo of the dish by emailing one to Charity Finnigsmier.

What is a Healthy Recipe?*

A recipe with an overall healthy dietary pattern that emphasizes:

  • A wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Whole grains and products made up mostly of whole grains.
  • Healthy sources of protein (Mostly plants such as legumes and nuts; fish and seafood; low-fat or fat-free dairy; and, if you eat meat and poultry, ensure it is lean and unprocessed.)
  • Liquid non-tropical vegetable oils such as canola, corn, olive, soybean and sunflower oils.
  • Minimally processed foods.
  • Minimized intake of added sugars.
  • Foods prepared with little or no salt.
  • Limited or preferably no alcohol intake.

Apply this guidance wherever food is prepared or consumed.
