The First Presbyterian Church Health Ministry Team is collecting recipes within our church family to promote healthy eating. A Healthy Eating Cookbook is our goal!
With the information provided below on What is a Healthy Recipe in mind, we would love for you to share a recipe with our church family. It can be an entree, salad, side dish, appetizer, or dessert.
- Download and fill out the recipe form.
- Return the completed form to our Health Ministry box outside the main office.
- Feel free to provide a photo of the dish by emailing one to Charity Finnigsmier.
What is a Healthy Recipe?*
A recipe with an overall healthy dietary pattern that emphasizes:
- A wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
- Whole grains and products made up mostly of whole grains.
- Healthy sources of protein (Mostly plants such as legumes and nuts; fish and seafood; low-fat or fat-free dairy; and, if you eat meat and poultry, ensure it is lean and unprocessed.)
- Liquid non-tropical vegetable oils such as canola, corn, olive, soybean and sunflower oils.
- Minimally processed foods.
- Minimized intake of added sugars.
- Foods prepared with little or no salt.
- Limited or preferably no alcohol intake.
Apply this guidance wherever food is prepared or consumed.
